Meals on Wheels is a program operated in conjunction with Avera St. Luke’s Hospital to provide special diet meals (cardiac, low sodium, diabetic, etc.), to those in the community with specific dietary needs. Meals are prepared at the hospital with the Aberdeen Area Senior Center handling administrative duties. Meals are home-delivered for a set fee and are billed to seniors at month’s end.
The Senior Meals program is a federally funded program for those 60 years of age and over who have regular diet needs. Meals are served at several sites in the community and the Aberdeen Area Senior Center is one of them. Meals are also home-delivered by volunteers. The cost is based on the client’s ability to pay.
Both programs deliver meals Monday through Friday, except on holidays.
