Aberdeen Mosquito Counts
Why the City Traps Mosquitoes
The more we know about the pests we’re trying to control, the better we can control them. Aberdeen Mosquito Control has an active mosquito control surveillance program. This program is responsible for collecting and analyzing data from the mosquitoes collected. This helps reduce the threat of mosquito-borne disease in our community.
Trap Sites
There are ten sites where traps are distributed throughout the community - three are non-residential areas. During the mosquito season, traps are checked daily at 7:00 am and number counts are usually posted by 12:00 noon each day. The information gained from these traps includes mosquito activity, gender, population, and species.
