Hot drinks are available at all outdoor rink locations. A limited number of skates are available. There is no charge for use of the outdoor rinks.
OUTDOOR RINK CLOSING GUIDELINES
The following guidelines will be used for closing warming houses on extremely cold and/or unfavorable weather days:
1. 15 degrees below zero
2. 5 degrees below zero with 10 or more miles an hour wind
3. Less than 5 skaters when temperatures are between 0 and 15 degrees below zero
Anyone using skating rinks (Lincoln and Manor) for hockey or pleasure skating should be aware of the system used for signaling of opened and closed warming houses and rinks.
To designate an open rink and warming house, a green flag will be displayed on the hockey rink.
To designate a closed rink and warming house, a red flag will be shown. Should rinks close during normal hours of operation due to inclement weather, all rinks will display a red flag and all radio stations will announce the closing.
Parents of small children should be especially aware of what the flags symbolize and watch for them before leaving their children at an outdoor rink when weather is cold.
