Meals On Wheels

Serving Those With Special Diet Needs

The Meals on Wheels program provides home-delivered meals to those in need of a special diet. These meals are prepared at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital and are tailored to the specific dietary needs of each client.

Individuals may receive meals if they are convalescing from an illness or accident; are physically handicapped, disabled, or elderly; are unable to prepare meals for themselves; and/or are confined to their home.

Participating in the Program

If you would like to begin receiving a special diet meal, please contact the Aberdeen Area Senior Center at 605-626-3330.

To begin the program, it is necessary to obtain a doctor’s referral with type of diet needed, as well as personal information such as address, phone number, and contact person. There are no income or age guidelines to receive meals.

Volunteering

Volunteers deliver more than 1,000 meals each month. New volunteers are always needed. Please contact the Aberdeen Area Senior Center at 605-626-3330 for more details.
