Solid Waste

Responsibilities

The Sanitation Division of the Public Works Department provides the orderly collection of solid waste for about 7,000 single-family homes and two-family duplexes in the City of Aberdeen on a weekly basis. Solid waste is defined as waste generated in a typical household.

Collection Services

Collection points for most residences are adjacent to the street or alley. If you are physically unable to bring your solid waste to a collection point, you may apply for carry-out service through the Public Works office, located at 123 South Lincoln Street.

Solid waste must be at the collection points by 8:00 am on the day of collection (7:00 am during the summer months). You may set out solid waste for collection as early as the night prior to the day of collection. All containers and/or racks must be removed from the boulevards and/or public rights of way after the day of collection.

Please note: Major changes in collection districts are not planned and your day for collection will not change unless notified in writing by the Public Works Department.

Brown County Landfill

The Brown County Landfill accepts many types of waste not accepted by the city's solid waste collection services, including hazardous, flammable, or toxic materials, batteries, and motor oil.
