Burial Search
Online Burial Search (OBS), provided by Pontem Software, is available to everyone with an internet connected device to easily search cemetery records and locate occupants with GIS mapping of the cemetery. By simply searching by occupant name, users can view genealogical information and view a mapped location of the occupant in the cemetery. Conversely, this can also aid in viewing available spaces as you zoom and scroll through the maps. OBS is updated in real time as records are updated and occupants added. You can also submit any genealogical information that you may have using the link on the occupant detail screen.
In addition, an alphabetical public directory is maintained in an information kiosk outside of the cemetery office. Persons wishing to locate occupants are welcome to use the directory and enclosed maps. Cemetery staff is available during maintenance hours to assist as well. Questions may be directed to the Cemetery Manager at (605)626-7096 or email.
Self-Guided Tour
Brochures are available in the information kiosk for a self-guided tour of Riverside Cemetery. Occupants and locations of note include the first burial in the cemetery, G.A.R. Soldiers Circle, as well as numerous men, women, and their families who helped shape a young and growing community of 2,500 people in 1886. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy this 21 stop tour, whether by car, bicycle, or on foot!
