Reading Buddies Library Program Poster - Made with PosterMyWall
Winter Wonderland 2019

Reading Buddies Saturday, December 14th - Time slots: 1-2pm slots are 1pm, 1:15pm, 1:30pm and 1:45pm

Does your child need more practice reading out loud? The Reading Buddies program provides an opportunity for your child to read to registered therapy dogs in a relaxed atmosphere. The therapy dogs sit calmly beside the reading child and listen patiently to story. Parents/guardians can register for a 15 minute time slot for their child. The children choose the books they want to read to the dogs. According to studies cited in Public Libraries magazine, children who consistently read to therapy dogs improve their reading fluency by 12 percent, including “the ability to explain, describe, analyze, and infer.” Reading to dog programs offer a unique opportunity for budding or struggling readers to transform into confident kids. Please call the Children’s Room 605-626-7097 to register your child for their reading session. More sessions will be added in the coming months.
