1. Who is responsible for maintaining boulevard trees?

The City of Aberdeen Forestry Division is responsible for maintaining all boulevard trees within city limits.

2. Can the property owner take down a boulevard tree without permission from the city?

The property owner may not remove boulevard trees. Property owners must contact the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department office at (605) 626-7015 for removal requests.

3. What is the process for planting boulevard trees?

Property owners interested in purchasing trees for the boulevard are asked to pick up a free planting permit and acceptable tree list from the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department office, located at 225 Third Avenue Southeast. Once the trees are purchased by the owner and the permit is approved, the Forestry Division will pick up the trees and plant them at no charge to the property owner.
