President John F. Kennedy declared the first Peace Officers' Memorial Day on May 15, 1962, as a tribute to peace officers and in honor of peace officers who, through their courageous deeds, lost their lives or became disabled in the line of duty. This day has been observed in our country annually ever since, and the week it falls has been designated as National Police Week. On this day, and every day, it is fitting to honor those peace officers who gave their lives to protect ours, and to thank the law enforcement officers who serve for their dedication and service to our communities.

This meeting aims at sharing information with property owners, property managers, and landlords about the Crime-Free Housing Program. Why you should consider this program: There is more competition now than ever for apartment rentals in Aberdeen. If you join the program you can promote the partnership with the Aberdeen Police Department to attract potential renters. Selling your property as safe and protected from crime can be a huge draw to interested parties. What do you have to do? Attend the class, use a crime free lease, and have a few basic security features including dead bolt locks, peep holes, and good lighting. What do you get in return? Being a member allows the Police Department to alert you directly by email when a crime has happened on your property. You will be able to decide if the tenant needs to be removed through eviction or warned for violation. Upon completing the program you will be provided with Crime-Free Housing signs for the properties you operate.
