Parks, Recreation & Forestry Openings & Closures

The following city facilities are closed until further notice.

A.  Parks, Recreation, and Forestry offices are closed to the public.  If you need to visit with a Parks, Recreation & Forestry employee, please make an appointment.

B.   All classes and events at the ARCC are cancelled.

C.  YAPA Center

D.  All reservation facilities and shelters will be closed.

E.  All recreational fields will be closed.  This will include:

  •  Soccer
  •  Softball
  •  Youth Baseball
  • Lacrosse

F.  All organized leagues or practices will be prohibited.

G.  Aberdeen Senior Center is closed.  Senior Nutrition and Meals on Wheels will continue.

H.   All drinking fountains will not be turned on.

The following facilities will remain open for public use:

A.  All recreational trails will remain open.

B.  Storybook Land, Land of Oz and Wylie Park Zoo will open on May 8, 2020 at 10 am.

C.  All playgrounds are open for public use.

D.  Lee Park Golf Course will be open (following established guidelines set by the CDC).

E.  All parks and open spaces will remain open.

F.  Disc Golf course at Melgaard Park will remain open.

G.  Campgrounds at Wylie Park (including camping cabins) and Melgaard Park will remain open.

H.  All dog parks will remain open with CDC restrictions.

I.  Skate Park will remain open with CDC restrictions.

J.  All tennis courts, basketball courts, and volleyball courts are open.

The Following will be facilities/programs/events that would be delayed opening or cancelled.  This will be reevaluated in mid-May.

A.  Aberdeen Aquatic Center delayed.

B.  Summer activities registration day will be delayed until mid to late May, 

C.  All summer outdoor and indoor recreation programming to include ARCC programming is delayed.

D.  All scheduled activities and rentals at Arena and theater and ARCC are delayed.
