The Aberdeen Police Dept. and Public Works Dept. urge all motorists to drive carefully and watch out for pedestrians and other vehicles at all street corners, alleys, and driveways. Children, other pedestrians, and other vehicles emerging from these areas may be difficult to see due to the high snow build-up from street and sidewalk snow removal, so slowing down and driving defensively will save lives and protect your property. Property owners are required to keep their sidewalks clear of snow and ice. If you live on a corner lot, you are required to clear the sidewalk through to the street on both sides. It is the law – and being a good neighbor – to clear the snow so that pedestrians can travel safely in front of your property.
