Registration for all Winter/Spring Classes has begun. Programs are filled on a first-pay, first-served basis, preregistration by the published deadline is required. BEGINNING WEAVING


This class will cover several aspects of weaving and setting up a loom, from warp calculations to fully dressing it for weaving. Each student will have a loom to set up and work on. Students will make a small hand towel in plain weave. This can also be used as a small table runner or placemat as well. A material fee of $20.00 will be paid to the instructor to cover the cost of yarns and miscellaneous materials. Students should bring a notebook, pen or pencil and scissors to class. Ages 18 and up.

ADVANCED BEGINNING WEAVING


This class is a continuation of Beginning Weaving. Students will dress their loom as in beginning weaving and weave a sampler of basic twill weave structures and a small hand towel or table runner of their choice, or they can weave a scarf using Pattie Graver’s book, “Next Steps in Weaving” A material fee of $20.00 - $30.00 (depending on project) will be paid to the instructor to cover the cost of yarns and miscellaneous materials. The book may also be purchased from the instructor. Students should bring a notebook, pen or pencil and scissors to class.

WEAVING-INDIVIDUAL STUDY


This class will use Pattie Graver’s book, “Next Steps in Weaving” to study one of the following weave structures - Over Shot, Summer Winter, Shadow Weave or Lace. Students will weave samples that can be made into mug rugs or coasters, then can continue onto a bigger project in future classes of “Individual Study”. A material fee of $20.00 will be paid to the instructor to cover the cost of yarns and miscellaneous materials. The book may also be purchased from the instructor. Pre requisite: Beginning Weaving or can fully dress a loom. Ages 16 and up.

CONTINUOUS STRAND WEAVING – NEW!


This is a form of weaving that is quick, simple and involves little to no set up time. As you put your warp threads on the loom, you are also placing the weft threads-no lengthy "dressing" of the loom! Classes will cover how to make your loom, weave various shapes and how to connect pieces to create larger finished items. Ages 16 and up.

FREEFORM CROCHET – NEW!


Freeform crochet is a wonderful expression of your own creativity achieved through fiber. It is like “doodling” with yarn because of the openness of the design. Freeform crochet can be anything you want it to be! Ages 16 and up.

SOCK KNITTING


Participants will knit, in the round, on double pointed needles, a basic sock. The technique for knitting a basic sock, in one color, sized for children, women or men will be learned over the course of the class. Tips and tricks will be learned using knit and purl stitches to master one of oldest knit accessories created by humans. Ages 14 and up. Sock yarn and double pointed knitting needles will be available to purchase at the first class meeting.

FELTING


Learn the ancient art of felting wool. Participants will explore “wet” felt techniques, then learn a “dry” felt technique used to build layered design over another piece of felt. Students will have the opportunity to make felt material and needle felt a decorative applique onto the material. Supply fee includes carded wool and felting needle. Ages 11 and up.

ABERDEEN QUILT GUILDS


The Aberdeen Quilt Guild meets the third Thursday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at the ARCC. The Candlelight Quilt Guild meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The meetings are open to anyone interested in quilting. Local quilters meet to share old and new techniques in cutting, piecing, color selections, and quilting by hand or machine. Demonstrations held monthly. Please call 626-7081 for more information.
