A limited number of classes are held in the evenings during the summer at the Aberdeen Recreation and Cultural Center. Registration for classes begins Tuesday, April 30 at 7:00 a.m.

NEW! INTRODUCTION TO GLASSWORK


Caleb Crosby has been lampworking and working with soft glass, for nearly twenty years. Join Caleb on Friday afternoons as he demonstrates required skills to safely manipulate clear and colored glass with a torch. Ages 18 and up. No charge. This is a drop in activity.

GOUACHE PLEIN AIR


Take time to enjoy a warm summer day while learning and building artistic techniques associated with gouache painting. Gouache is a very versatile medium, blending the translucent flexibility of watercolors, and opaque flow of acrylics. Ages 16 and up.

NEW! RAKU WORKSHOP


Gratia Brown, a ceramic artist, and Assistant Professor of Art at NSU, will be offering a one day raku workshop. The workshop includes glazing application techniques, suggestions of glaze combinations, alternative firing processes, raku firing demonstrations, and instructions. This is a make and take workshop, where bisque pieces will be glazed, Fired, smoked, cooled and ready to take home. Participants will need to have 3 - 4 bisque ware pieces, made out of Raku Clay and ready to glaze prior to the start of the workshop. There will be a limited number of ready to glaze bisque pieces to purchase, for a separate supply fee, prior to the start of the workshop. raku is an exciting, yet unpredictable way to fire pottery. Ages 18 and up.

LOOM WEAVING


Learn several aspects of weaving and setting up looms, from warp calculations to fully dressing a loom. Each student will have a loom to set up and work on. A material fee, pending projects selected, will be paid to the instructor. Ages 18 and up.

Supply List: pen or pencil, scissors, tape measure, notebook, and post-it-notes. Or students may rent a supply kit for $3.00 payable to instructor.

OPEN POTTERY STUDIO


The pottery studio will be open for use during off-class times for practice with hand building, wheel throwing and other projects involving stoneware, chads bod, or earthenware clay. Clay fees include clay, glaze, and one bisque and glaze firings, (excluding alternative firings). Open Studio hours are Wednesdays, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Ages: high school students through adult. Open pottery studio participants must schedule an appointment for orientation prior to working in the studio, as well as sign in at the front desk, each time prior to utilizing the studio space.

ARTS FOR WELLNESS OPEN STUDIO


Looking for a creative outlet as a way to combat stress? Look no further than our Open Studio! The Wellness Open Studio is a place to immerse yourself in creativity through Art Journaling, Coloring, Zentangle drawing or perhaps a project (painting, scrapbooking, sewing, etc.) to bring on your own! Journaling, Coloring and Zentangle supplies available; otherwise bring your own supplies. Ages 14 and up. No charge. This is a drop in activity.
