Frequently asked questions:

What is a typical day like?

In Wee/Pre Discovery, the children stay with the same teacher all day. Each teacher will take the children through a variety of activities related to the week’s theme.
In Discovery, the children rotate between teachers for different activities all related to the week’s theme.

Is the morning session different from the afternoon session?

The morning sessions are repeated in the afternoon.

What are the hours for Discover and Pre/Wee Discovery?

Morning sessions begin at 9 a.m. and end at noon. Afternoon sessions begin at 1 p.m. and end at 4 p.m.

Do you have early drop off and/or late pick up?

Because of limited staffing time, children should be dropped off no more than 15 minutes early for the sessions and no later than 15 minutes after the session ends.

Is there class on Fridays?

No. Discovery and Pre/Wee Discovery meet only Mondays through Thursdays.

Do the children do different projects each week?

Yes. Each week revolves around a particular theme. There may be painting, music, games, etc., but there are variations on the approach to the projects.

How should my child dress?

Your children should come dressed to get messy. Some of the project materials might stain clothing. On particularly sunny days, it might be a good idea to wear sunscreen.

Should I send a snack with my child?

No. Children between the first grade and sixth grades usually can hold out for three hours without a snack. Children in Pre/Wee Discovery generally get a small snack sometime during the session. Be sure to alert us to any food allergies your child may have.

May my child bring a visiting cousin to class?

Please call ahead to ask permission. If there is room in the session, generally the visitor may attend. There is a $5.00 fee for the visiting child per day.

My child is very advanced for his age, and turns 3 in August. May he attend Wee Discovery in June?

Although children develop at different rates, we would prefer that they meet the age requirement by May 1st.

My child is toilet trained, but wears pull ups. Is this acceptable?

If your child can use facilities independently and rarely has an accident, pull ups (for your peace of mind) are acceptable. If an accident occurs that needs attention, your child will phone home for assistance.
