The world needs your story! November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and in celebration the K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library will be hosting writing sessions for writer’s groups as they work on their novels. These sessions will be each Wednesday in November, 6:30-8:30 PM, with the exception of November 22nd. These sessions are designed to help inspire your writing, clear any writing blocks and just be a quiet place to write. The instructor is a published author who got their start with NaNoWriMo in case you have questions or need assistance. No tickets or registration required, however, participants need to set up their own accounts at NaNoWriMo prior to November 1st meeting. All NaNoWriMo participants have from November 1st until the 30th to write 50,000 words. Please bring your own laptops or tablets. If you need one from the library, please contact the Community Services Department. Library laptops are in limited supply. Sessions will be in Community Room 110.
One-part writing book camp, one part writers network as National Novel Writing Month celebrates its 19th year of encouraging creativity, education, and the power of imagination through the largest writing event in the world. Last year, NaNoWriMo had over 380,000 participants from 646 different regions, on 6 continents. More than 34,000 met their goal of writing 50,000 words.
